Accountant Location : Grand Rapids, MI Schedule : Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM (flexible) Compensation : $45,000-$60,000 annually A mission-driven nonprofit organization in Grand Rapids is seeking an Accountant to join their team. This full-time opportunity offers meaningful work in support of workforce development across Michigan. In collaboration with local businesses, educational institutions, economic developers, and community groups, they strive to build a strong, qualified workforce that supports the economic growth and future of Michigan. Accountant Key Responsibilities: Financial Processing & Compliance Manage contractor and administrative expenditures, ensuring compliance with grant regulations and organizational policies Code costs accurately and process timely payments Coordinate contract closeouts and maintain detailed financial documentation Accounting & Reporting Maintain and analyze accounting records: general ledger, journals, bank reconciliations, cash deposits Prepare monthly internal financial reports and grantor-required external reports Reconciliations & Audits Reconcile general ledger entries with internal databases related to services, training, and scholarships Conduct internal audits and perform quarterly financial analyses Invoicing & Cost Allocation Prepare A/R invoices and calculate infrastructure cost-sharing Manage depreciation, prepaid and accrued expenses on a monthly basis Collaboration & Audit Preparation Partner with program staff to support fiscal activities and budget adjustments Assist in annual audit prep and participate in ongoing process improvement efforts Accountant Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field Intermediate Excel skills Preferred: Advanced Excel skills Experience with Abila software Deep understanding of nonprofit/governmental finance and fund accounting
