Purpose: Maintenance Mechanic reports to the supervisor and is
responsible for addressing trouble calls and performing associated
maintenance and repair activities on basic and complex machines.
The position assists engineers and technicians with advanced
repairs. The role works under limited supervision and limited
contact with external suppliers and customers. What You Will Be
Doing: /n - /nPhysical Activity: Moderate physical activity
requiring agility and dexterity, including walking, standing, or
bending; and lifting or moving objects. Work is performed in an
area with high risk of exposure to dangerous conditions, such as
performing work at great heights or in extreme outdoor weather
conditions. /n - Responsible for addressing trouble calls and
performing associated maintenance and repair activities on basic
and complex machines. This position assists engineers and
technicians with advanced repairs. /n - Perform preventative
maintenance to ensure that machines and equipment continue to run
smoothly. /n - Verify all paperwork is present and filled out
appropriately. /n - Transport parts or items from one area of the
facility to another using forklifts, other motorized vehicles,
carts, wheels, cranes, etc. /n - Fabricate and repair counters,
benches, partitions, and other wooden structures comprising
buildings. (Not Applicable for Oil Room) /n - Assist in the
movement of equipment in the facility to support changes in
production/facility systems and the installation of new equipment.
/n - Change and clean various types of filters (e.g., coolant,
fuel, oil). /n - Clean tanks, pumps, and lines. /n - Collect,
transport and dispose of hazardous material appropriately and
following all guidelines. /n - Determine and gather the necessary
tools and materials needed to perform required maintenance
activities and repairs. /n - Follow all departmental safety rules
and regulations. /n - Log into support issues database and close
out completed preventative maintenance and repair activities. (In
Duarte, only Lead or Supervisor performs this function.) /n - Paint
and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster,
drywall and other parts of building structures. (Not applicable for
Oil Room) /n - Adjust functional parts of devices and control
instruments using hand tools. /n - Assist in the movement of
furniture to support office operations. /n - Assist outside
contractors with remodeling and renovation projects. /n - Check oil
levels in equipment and compare against specifications. /n -
Knowledge of all national, state and local electrical codes, as it
applies to facility. /n - Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings,
gears, and other parts of machinery. /n - Collect the water report
daily and provide to Environmental Department for annual EPA
report. /n - Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove
defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools.
/n - Estimate repair costs. /n - Fabricate and repair counters,
benches, partitions, and other wooden structures comprising
buildings. (Not applicable for Oil Room) /n - Identify location of
utilities, sprinklers, electrical shutoff, natural gas, well water,
city water, etc. (Not applicable for Oil Room) /n - Inspect drives,
motors and belts following checklists. /n - Install, repair and
maintain electrical motors, pipe systems and plumbing work. /n -
Install, repair and maintain pumps and ventilation work. /n -
Support others to maintain air compression equipment, tracking air
pressure levels and making adjustments as necessary. /n - Support
others to maintain HVAC equipment and perform associated
measurements (e.g., measure PH levels, water condensations, steam
pressure). /n - Obtain parts, supplies and equipment from
storerooms. /n - Operate oil and water separation equipment. /n -
Transport maintenance materials and tools using a forklift or other
motorized device. /n - Perform repairs to air lines, coolant
systems, and other leaking lines. /n - Position and climb ladders
or other devices (e.g., scaffolds) to perform maintenance, repairs,
or installation activities in elevated areas. /n - Perform basic
machining by using drill presses or lathes. /n - Perform meter
readings (e.g., water used, sewage out of plant) and record
information for Environmental Department for EPA reporting. (Not
applicable for Oil Room) /n - Perform moderately complex repairs to
building equipment and systems and building structures. (Not
applicable for Oil Room) /n - Perform oil changes on equipment. /n
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure that building systems
operate efficiently and do not deteriorate. (Not applicable for Oil
Room) /n - Align and balance new equipment after installation. (Not
applicable for Oil Room) /n - Assist engineers an technicians with
advanced repairs. /n - Contact and communicate with equipment
operators to determine the nature/description of mechanical
problems and failures. /n - Designate and delegate work team
assignments. (In Duarte, this is a Lead function.) /n - Determine
three-phase power electrical current flowing to equipment using a
meter. (Not applicable to Oil Room) /n - Diagnose, troubleshoot and
repair complex mechanical problems and determine how to correct
them, checking blueprints, repair manuals and parts catalogs as
necessary. /n - Document mechanical failures and provide reports
detailing the information to others. /n - Support install, repair
and maintain electrical connections and electrical components. (Not
applicable for Oil Room) /n - The following functions are regularly
performed at Woodward Santa Clarita and may be performed at other
sites, as required: /n - Assist with Hazardous waste pickup,
movement and storage in accordance with regulatory requirements, as
required. /n - Support the install, repair and maintain electrical
motors, pipe systems and plumbing work. /n - Support other members
with cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other
parts of machinery. /n - Assist electricians with duties as
required. /n - Perform moderately complex repairs to building
equipment and systems and building structures /n - Install and
store paper supplies. /n - Notify supervisors concerning the need
for any building or equipment repairs. /n - Properly use and mix
cleaning chemicals. /n - Empty trash and garbage containers. /n -
Sweep, mop, vacuum hallways and office spaces. /n - Work in a
self-directed work environment. /n - Change out building light
bulbs and air filters on air handling equipment as necessary. /n -
Demonstrate an awareness of clean room lab requirements. /n -
Assist the maintenance department with light machine repair. /n /n
What We Are Looking For: /n - High school diploma or GED /n - 2-5
years related work experience /n - Hand Tools: Knowledge of and the
ability to use a variety of basic hand tools (e.g., wrenches,
hammers, screwdrivers, scrappers, box cutters). /n - Knowledge of
deburring equipment and tools. /n - Knowledge and the ability to
perform predictive maintenance activities. /n - Basic Electrical
Systems: Basic knowledge of 3-phase electrical systems including
components, repair processes, and installation procedures. /n -
Basic Hydronics: (Does not apply to Duarte.) Knowledge of basic
hydronic systems. /n - Basic knowledge of Building Management
System. /n - The ability to accomplish a task with concern for all
the areas involved, including the ability to notice minute
inconsistencies/faults in parts, and the ability to know when a
decision needs to be made and having the readiness to make timely,
sound decisions. This includes recognizing when outside advice is
needed and committing to action even in uncertain situations. /n -
The ability to use computer and web-based systems to input, access,
modify, or output information. /n - The ability to write
effectively, to read and understand work documents, to communicate
information clearly to coworkers and supervisors, and the ability
to listen attentively and comprehend key pieces of spoken
information and the ability to instruct others on the specific
activities used in a production process. This includes
demonstrating and explaining the activities on the job. /n -
Knowledge of and ability to communicate technical and complex
