brightest talent in an array of professions. SUMMARY:This key
innovation development role provides leadership and oversight to
research, identify, validate, and develop technology capabilities
that can be adopted into Thor products and manufacturing processes.
As a part of the Advanced Product Technology (APT) team this
individual will interact with global suppliers, partners, and
technology incubators outside the organization as well as key stake
holders with in the leadership teams of the Thor subsidiaries. A
successful contributor will bring forward opportunities that both
improve customer experience, be technically feasible, and provide a
viable business case for adoption based on profitability, market
differentiation, loss reduction, etc. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Provide leadership to Electrical component,
system, communication, and process related projects as assigned
with the APT department.2) Find and/or create innovation
opportunities and complete phase zero evaluation of viability -
including written analysis of viability findings (both favorable
and unfavorable opportunities).3) Develop plans and execute
validation of candidate technologies. Write validation plans which
include testing procedures, findings, analysis methods, creation of
prototypes and/or testing apparatus, timing and costs. Prepare and
advocate for validation plans to secure required funding when
required.4) Develop and execute plans for phase one demonstration
and confirmation of validated technologies. Execute the design,
build, and physical demonstration of new technologies such that
Thor Subsidiaries can gain a visible and tangible understanding of
the opportunities.5) Identify and document intellectual property
opportunities related to technology development activities. Draft
IP summaries to be submitted to Thor Legal for review.6) Produce
documented initial business case support for implementation of
validated technologies.7) Ensure validated technologies meet safety
and compliance requirements for RV application.8) Support
transition of technologies into the Advanced Manufacturing
Engineering group.9) Lead and integrate efforts of team members -
both internal and external of Thor Industries. Strategically
identify and recruit adjunct team skills necessary for the
successful completion of projects.10) Work collaboratively to
leverage the skills and knowledge of team members.11) Maintain
project schedules and insure timely completion of assigned projects
against allocated budgets.12) Provide clear and concise reporting
of project status and periodic updates for progress review.13)
Prepare final documentation to close all projects for retention of
data.14) Manage multiple projects at various stages of
completion.15) Undertake other duties reasonable and consistent
with the position as needed. Travel as required.SKILLS Aptitude to
function professionally and effectively in client focused
organization. Ability to effectively lead teams comprised of
technical and non-technical participants. Proven record of
accomplishment in technology evaluation and implementation. Ability
to apply both technical and business acumen to project evaluations.
Strong organizational, project management and documentation skills.
Ability to communicate complex topics to non-technical partners.
Experience in 3D CAD (Inventor, Solidworks, Catia) and general
office suite software programs.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 4-year
degree in Engineering, advanced Engineering or Business degree
beneficial. 5+ years of experience related to technology
development and implementation in a manufacturing environment with
defined project / team leadership responsibility. At THOR we are
