Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer – CNC Programming & Quoting
Location: Bensenville, IL Type: Full-Time | On-site Make an
Immediate Impact at a High-Mix, Low-Volume Job Shop in Bensenville,
IL We’re looking for a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join a
tight-knit, two-person engineering team at a growing precision job
shop serving the food and packaging industries. If you're a
hands-on engineer with deep experience in CNC lathe programming,
stainless steel machining , and quoting new parts from scratch ,
this is an opportunity to play a critical role from day one. This
position focuses on planning and quoting incoming jobs, programming
CNC machines (primarily Mazak) using Mastercam , and supporting
machinists on the shop floor . You’ll develop complete part
routings—turning, milling, and secondary operations—and see jobs
through from start to finish in a fast-paced, quick-turn
environment. What You’ll Do: Interpret customer RFQs, BOMs, and
technical drawings to develop quotes and production plans. Create
detailed part routings and workflows for machining operations,
including turning, milling, and secondary finishing. Program CNC
lathes (Mazak and DNG) using Mastercam and Mazatrol (conversational
and G-code). Assist machinists with troubleshooting and edits on
the shop floor (approx. 10–15% of time). Select appropriate
tooling, inserts, fixtures, and determine optimal feeds/speeds.
Transition 2D drawings and customer models to 3D CAD and CAM-ready
formats. Collaborate with the shop floor and leadership team to
ensure efficient, on-time job execution. Maintain and update
ERP/MRP data related to routings and BOMs. Must-Have
Qualifications: 5–7 years in manufacturing engineering and CNC
programming (job shop preferred). Mastercam experience for complex
geometry and multi-axis lathe programming. Strong familiarity with
Mazak lathes , including Mazatrol conversational and G-code
programming. Proficiency in programming CNC lathe turning centers
(including live tooling and Y-axis/multi-axis setups). Expertise in
machining stainless steel parts. Experience with CAD platforms
(Inventor or SolidWorks preferred). In-depth knowledge of tooling,
workholding, and GD&T. Proven success in high-mix, low-volume
environments with quick turnarounds. Strong documentation, routing,
and BOM interpretation skills. ERP/MRP system familiarity. Nice to
Have: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent hands-on
experience). Project management or customer-facing communication
experience. Exposure to lean manufacturing practices (5S, Kaizen,
