Job Description Job Description Step into a Day as a Powertrain
Service Technician Start your morning assessing a vehicle fresh
from a customer road test. You’ll confirm the concern, perform a
thorough inspection, and determine whether it’s a transmission,
transfer case, or another powertrain component that needs
attention. After planning the repair, you’ll remove and reinstall
the necessary assemblies, complete the fix, road test to validate
the result, and document your findings with clarity. Throughout the
day, you’ll mix in routine services—oil changes, tire rotations,
brake inspections—while keeping your bay tidy and following all
safety procedures. What You’ll Handle Remove and reinstall
transmissions and other powertrain components with precision.
Diagnose and repair issues on light trucks, passenger cars, and
electrified vehicles. Conduct basic vehicle inspections to identify
maintenance and safety needs. Road test vehicles and record a
concise report of findings. Perform routine maintenance services:
oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections. Maintain a neat,
organized work area and follow shop safety procedures. Bring Your
General mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience. Valid driver’s
license. Basic computer proficiency for service documentation. GED
or High School Diploma. Strong technical troubleshooting and
problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and
