Job Description:
Job Description Job Description This position is focused on
traffic engineering including modeling, safety and operational
studies, and technical report writing under direct supervision of
the Traffic Engineer, with involvement in all aspects of
Engineering Department tasks. Educational and Experience
Requirements Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related
field preferred; Transportation/Traffic interest/focus. Necessary
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Project management and
organizational skills, communication and teamwork, problem-solving
and critical thinking. General computer literacy including
Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Road Conductor / AASHTOware, and an
aptitude for learning new software. Traffic modeling software
(Synchro/SimTraffic, Highway Capacity Software, VISSIM) experience
desired. Knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
desired. Other Requirements A valid Michigan Driver's License;
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion with a track to
obtain the Michigan registered Professional Engineer (PE) license
is preferred; Additional certifications may include all or some of
the following: Density Certification, Stormwater Operator
Certification, ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Level I, MCA/ACI
Concrete Testing Levels I & II, HMA Level I, MDOT Office Technician
Certification, and FHWA Safety inspection of in-service bridges
certification. All candidates offered employment must pass a drug
test including THC and will be subject to randoms during their
employment with the Kent County Road Commission.
