It's kind of a big deal!Now that we have talked about all of the great things about ITC, HR requires we include the specific job responsibilities.ABOUT THE WAREHOUSE MANAGER JOBWAREHOUSE MANAGER SUMMARYThe Warehouse Manager position plans, directs, and coordinates the warehouse functions in our Elkhart, Indiana location. The Warehouse Manager provides supervision, coaching, and leadership to our warehouse and shipping/receiving teams. This position also provides exceptional customer service to other team members at ITC to enable us to exceed customer expectations.THE CORE DUTIES OF THE WAREHOUSE MANAGERSupervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, and shipping products or materials.Plan, develop, or implement warehouse safety and security programs and activities. Inspect physical conditions of warehouses, vehicle fleets, or equipment and order testing, maintenance, repairs, or replacements.Timely response to customers' or shippers' questions and complaints regarding storage and distribution services.Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials.Review invoices, customer orders, or demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and to issue work assignments.Maintain accurate inventory levels of products or materials in warehouses.Develop storage and distribution models that include factors such as warehouse locations, customer locations, or available transportation modes to maximize operational efficiency or sustainability. Track and trace goods while they are in route to their destinations. Work with supervisor to prepare and manage departmental budgets.Issue shipping instructions and provide routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are coordinated.Examine products or materials to estimate quantities or weight and type of container required for storage or transport.Arrange for necessary shipping documentation. Confer with department heads to coordinate warehouse activities, such as production, sales, inventory control, or purchasing.Evaluate contractors or business partners for operational efficiency, safety or environmental performance records. Negotiate with carriers, warehouse operators, or insurance company representatives for services and preferential rates.Evaluate freight or inventory costs associated with transit times to ensure that costs are appropriate.Develop or implement plans for facility modification or expansion, such as equipment purchase or changes in space allocation.Develop or implement plans for storage and distribution activities that emphasize technological solutions for sustainability, such as investment in smart or eco-friendly containers, dynamic distribution networks, warehouse renovations, or fuel efficient fleets.Serves as a strong role model and trusted resource for the team at ITC.Ensures team member compliance with company policies and procedures and offers timely and appropriate discipline when necessary.Provides team members with coaching and opportunities to assist them with reaching their goals with ITC.Assists with the team member hiring process including interviewing, touring, department orientation, and training.Ensures that employees complete all training and company requirements timely.Communicates employee concerns with other leaders as necessary and ensures concerns are addressed in a timely fashion.Coordinates initial injury and safety incident management including reporting to Human Resources and following appropriate procedures for initial injury care and drug testing. Initiates timely injury investigations and provides suggestions for improvement followed by taking action on resulting decisions.Coordinates all performance management actions for the team and ensures items are accurate and done in a timely manner.Provides opportunities for employee engagement and team building on a regular basis.Notifies Human Resources about potential FMLA situations, harassment concerns, and other items as soon as aware to ensure proper handling. Requirements:
JOB DESIRABLES AND REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree in Business or Logistics preferred. Minimum of 5 years in supervision with proven experience leading a high functioning team while providing strong leadership, coaching, encouraging team member growth, providing timely discipline, and assisting with employee selection.At least 7 years of experience in shipping and receiving, Extensive experience using MRP systems for shipping and receiving functions. Syteline preferred.Previous experience with shipping systems including UPS and Federal Express systems.At least 1 year experience driving sit down and stand up forklifts.Knowledge of warehouse and shipping processes and efficiencies.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to develop and coach team to excellent performance.Demonstrated skill in handling employee performance and safety issues.Ability to be a strong yet fair leader and role model.Ability to obtain a forklift license.Minimum of mid-level computer skills including MS Word and Excel.Minimum of mid-level math skills.
