CEO Position OverviewThe President/CEO takes an outward-facing role with heavy involvement in both Elkhart and St. Joseph counties as well as state and national associations and legislative outreach. The Board seeks a strategic, community-oriented candidate who has led, and innovated, in a regulated environment/industry and will act a champion for dignity and autonomy for our clients.Overseeing an experienced five-member leadership team, the President/CEO is responsible for providing overall strategic leadership, advocacy, continued community outreach, growing current and new business partnerships, employment opportunities and supportive services. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and business skills. Key responsibilities include: Organizational leadership and directionFinancial planning and management, Facility managementAdvocacy with local and state governmentCollaboration with community agencies, local government, and key membership associationsActive engagement with our clients and familiesCommunity Engagement, Outreach, Education, Fund developmentStaff supervisionProgram AdministrationBoard RelationsQualifications Passion for helping people live their best lives clients and staffDemonstrates a strong customer service orientation and desire to engage with our clients, families, and caregivers.Senior management and leadership experience, in a regulated work environment, with responsibility for setting strategic direction and financial sustainability. Strong organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills required.Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of others and the ability to utilize performance accountability measuresFamiliarity with disability services, special education programs, and state and federal regulations is helpfulAble to serve as the public spokesperson with stakeholders and mediaPolitical skills and savvy with an understanding and appreciation for local community, education, and government collaborationSuccessful experience working with a nonprofit Board of Directors. Familiarity with fundraising and grant writing is helpful.Bachelors Degree (B.A. /B.S.) in business, social services, or other related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
