Job SummaryReporting to the Senior Associate Director for Global Partnership, the Assistant Director supports the development and coordination of the University of Chicago's global partnerships by conducting background research, analyzing opportunities, and facilitating administrative processes. This role facilitates the review, tracking, and renewal of international memoranda of understanding (MOUs), ensuring accuracy and compliance in coordination with the Office of Legal Counsel and campus stakeholders. This position manages academic, research, clinical or administrative programs of the University.The Assistant Director identifies potential funding sources to support global faculty research, contributes to federal reporting requirements, and maintains data related to the University's international engagement. Strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to synthesize information into clear communications and briefing materials are essential.Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the review process, tracking, renewal and reporting for the University's institutional memoranda of understanding on behalf of the University to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Supports continued University compliance, as this role gathers required inputs from University stakeholders for the Department of Education's Section 117 Foreign Gift and Contract Report.
  • Works closely with the Office of Legal Counsel and administrators in units across campus and serves as a resource on University administrative processes and guidance.
  • Supports the review of requests from external partners for partnership, providing background research and analysis.
  • Maintains working relationships with key University staff to capture faculty and University engagement across the world.
  • Provides University staff and faculty with resources available on campus and works to surface opportunities for revenue-generating engagement with students and the campus, networking, and research collaborations, among other opportunities, to those units.
  • Builds knowledge of the unit, University processes and solves a range of straightforward problems.
  • Develops memos and written documents and contributes to the creation of briefing materials, presentations, and reporting for executive leadership.
  • Identify potential external funding sources that support global faculty research initiatives; provide recommendations to leadership and academic stakeholders.
  • Maintains UChicago Global's inbox and coordinates required responses.
  • Coordinates inputs for UChicago Global's monthly newsletter and supports communications efforts that highlight the University's global engagement.
  • Serves as a point of contact for collecting and analyzing data related to the university's global engagement and its financial impact.
  • Uses moderate/solid understanding and experience to administer the delivery of services to program participants and/or beneficiaries.
  • Sets and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Has moderate/high levels of interactions with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
    Minimum QualificationsEducation:Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
    Work Experience:Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

    • Memoranda of Understanding experience, researching potential partners in an academic setting.
    • Working with faculty and senior leadership a plus but not a necessity.Technical Skills or Knowledge:
      • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to UChicago Global, including its contact management system, Zoom, and the Microsoft Office Suite.Preferred Competencies
