Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 9 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Active license required by start date Certifications: BLS, NIHSS; ACLS, CPI, ONC, PALS preferred Must-Have: First-timers accepted Travel experience preferred Experience with charting systems preferred Description: Position for a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse available. Start date is as soon as possible. Shift: 3x12 Days (0700-1900). No call required. Every other weekend coverage required. May need to float to other medical floors. Holiday requirement is 1 holiday per contract. Two extra shifts will be scheduled during the assignment. Flexibility is offered for choosing shifts in the schedule. Patient ratios on the unit are 1:5 to 1:6. Travelers are allowed to call off twice during the assignment. For a third call-off, the unit manager will review attendance. Guaranteed hours are 36 per week. Requirements include BLS, NIHSS certifications, and preferred ACLS and PALS. Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility. Pending licenses are accepted if active by the start date. Royal blue scrubs are required for the position. Charting will be done using Cerner. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Daily census is approximately 43 patients. Interdisciplinary support teams are available. Common patient diagnoses include post-surgical, diabetes, pneumonia, heart failure, and respiratory conditions. Special procedures include total joints, spinal surgery, and trauma care. Staffing includes Charge Nurse, Nurse Assistants, and Secretary. Patient care involves many skills such as IV management, telemetry monitoring, wound care, and post-operative care. The unit is equipped with various medical devices and support systems. Travelers must complete required education modules prior to starting. Professional conduct within the role is imperative. Failure to uphold conduct standards may result in contract termination. This position requires accountability and professionalism.
