Job Description:
Overview:
Fiber Splicer will performs tasks associated with the
construction/upgrade of fiber systems. A In-house Fiber Splicer is
responsible for terminating, splicing, bonding/grounding,
documenting, and testing fiber optic cables within the systems
networks and their related equipment resulting in maximum operating
efficiency. ***Candidates with 12 months of verifiable utility
construction experience are eligible for $2500 Gross Hiring Bonus,
for applications received between April 1, 2022 and May 31, 2022

Responsibilities:
Performs tasks associated with the electronic upgrade and splicing
of cable.
Maintain proper inventory on vehicle based on work assignment.
Reconcile all issued parts and materials on a daily basis to ensure
accurate material usage counts.
Maintain equipment according to design specifications.
Install/repair fiber lines in trenches and/or pedestals using
various hand tools.
Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation.
Basic daily maintenance of provided vehicle: check fluids, clean
and organize vehicle.
Complete daily production reports, mark-up maps, keep track of work
hours, complete "as-built maps" for areas built and track daily
production
Self-supervise all operations to ensure that all splicing
operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry
specifications.
Safely operate and use bucket truck to complete daily construction
assignments as needed (potentially climb poles)
Field train and control/oversee the work of other Splicers when
necessary.
Frequently work independently
Other splicing related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background
check.
Possess a valid driver's license or be eligible and willing to
obtain the required license for the position.
A good driving record is required.
Minimum two (2) years previous experience or training.
Must have previous experience spicing fiber optic and/or copper
cable.
Must have knowledge of telecommunications network structure.
Must be a valid driver's license (CDL Class "A" preferred).
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to read and build from blueprints and/or wire
diagrams.
Must be able to work nights and weekends, if necessary.
Ability to operate technical equipment, including but not limited
to computer, OTDR and fusion splicing equipment.
