Summary
As the Vehicles Systems Engineer within our Utilimaster division at our Fleet Vehicles & Services manufacturing facility in Bristol, IN, you play an integral role in developing electrical and mechanical systems and interfaces for Utilimaster products, particularly the electric chassis for our Electric Fleet Vehicles, as we continue to move ahead of the competition when delivering products and services that require precision, planning, and the perfect vehicle.
A significant amount of your time as Vehicle Systems Engineer will be spent working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between the electrical and mechanical components and be recognized as the go-to person for all things related to electrical system interfaces.
In addition, your engineering expertise will be critical in partnering with manufacturing and safety teams on new products such as Battery Electric Vehicles, and in delivering high-quality engineering solutions that exceed customer expectations.

    What You'll Be Doing
    • Performing system-level engineering and problem analysis for electrical chassis interfaces
    • Delivering engineering solutions and revisions via component drawings, assembly and installation drawings, and Engineering Change Notices and supporting customer issues
    • Conducting design reviews and facilitating communications between departments
    • Extracting technical customer requirements from internal and external customers
    • Translating technical requirements with manufacturing, quality, sales, and other internal partners
    • Creating and maintaining design standards and guidelines for components, system interfaces and assemblies
    • Representing Utilimaster Engineering during customer site visits and customer pilot reviews
    • Providing design solutions that exceed customer expectations for quality, cost, performance, and timing
    • Preparing and supporting the design review and technical review meetings with OEM partners for system-level engineering issues
    • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and requirements, the Utilimaster lean checklist, and engineering documentation standards
    • Creating validation plans comprehending and explaining customer requirements
    • Ensuring that components used in designs are compatible with systems and meet the required specifications
    • Evaluating bench and vehicle log files for issue analysis
      Qualifications
      • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
      • 3 + years of hands-on experience with engineering practices, preferably in the automotive, on-highway trucking, or specialty vehicles sectors
      • Strong familiarity working within a design environment utilizing SOLIDWORKS
      • Knowledgeable in utilizing problem-solving tools such as FMEA, RCCA, and 8D.
      • A solid understanding of safety and regulation requirements
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, particularly, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
      • Expertise in utilizing database management tools
      • A reputation of looking at the "big picture" when making technical decisions
      • Strong track record of defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions for cross-functional reviews.
        What Makes You Stand Out
        • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering
        • Demonstrable experience driving solutions with production
