Job Description:

This position is responsible for assisting in continuous
improvement activities using lean manufacturing tools, including
5S, TPM, standardized work, time studies, through-put improvements,
and waste elimination.
CI techs are expected to coach/train Operation Leads and assist
Production Supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Able to learn problem solving o Line balance chart (Yamazumi) o
Standardized Work Combination Charts o Value Stream Mapping
- Capable of taking time studies and breaking down jobs
- Capable of training to standardized work--- Audit standardized
work, 5S, LPAs, quality check sheets, etc.
- Participate in workshops (C/O, 5S, through put, TPM)
- Coach Operations Leads and assist Production Supervisors
- Coaches team members on adherence to safety procedures,
including correct use of PPE, daily safety checks, and workplace
inspections.
- Coach team members to adhere to standard operating
procedures.
- Provides timely and effective feedback to help team members to
strengthen specific skills needed to accomplish a task or solve a
problem.
- Escalates the cell's issues and/or successes to the Production
Supervisors or manager as necessary.
- Assist in resolving problems during the launch period of new
products or engineering changes and improve the production
process.
- Help develop/implement the plant's 5S improvement plan.
- Assists in implementing the plant's continuous improvement
plan.
- Collect data as needed for improvements, OFI (Opportunity for
Improvement), Savings projects (WAVE), etc.
- Additional duties may be assigned as needed, including
assisting with EH&S data review, entry, and investigation
CRITICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Some understanding of lean manufacturing, waste elimination,
problem-solving & 5S principles.
- Must be able to use Email and Excel programs, Microsoft Word &
PowerPoint knowledge are a plus
- Self-driven to complete tasks on time at a high pace--- Good
organizational skills--- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated professional and ethical leadership skills
- Able to read, write, and perform basic math skills
- Able to communicate effectively
- Must have the ability to carry out instructions, provided in
written, oral or diagram forms.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and
product and process specifications.
- Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to adapt to changing work requirements
EDUCATION & TRAINING
- High school equivalent or higher education.
- Work experience in the automotive parts industry preferred.
Travel
- Travel is possible with this position, however not common

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Office environment - includes, but not limited to, artificial
lighting, computers, telephones, desks, temperature
controlled.
- Manufacturing environment - includes, but not limited to,
artificial lighting, machine/equipment noise, some welding exhaust,
non-controlled temperatures, and PPE required.
- Some travel which could include an overnight stay.
