The role will be instrumental in bringing analytical analyses to leadership team to enable decisions that directly impact business performance and outcomes. The position supports month-end close and special projects as requested, and works closely with manufacturing to understand issues and how they impact the financial results as well as educate/inform department(s) on cost divers and variances. This position will provide accounting support through review and validation of material transactions and processes to increase the accuracy of our financial statements. This position provides the candidate with opportunities to identify, lead, and drive process improvements, while working in a team environment and interact with multiple functions across the organization.Responsibilities:Establish and monitor internal controls to mitigate financial risks and protect company assetsReview daily production reports to identify errors in production reporting and explain standard yield variancesReview raw material claims from suppliers that are processedPerform Standard Cost Testing for raw material, WIP, packaging, supplies, and ingredientsMaintain the packaging, supplies and ingredients standard costing files and track performance against standard.Work cross functionally to drive results; this includes providing training in understanding financial indicatorsConduct variance analysis on Production Cost (Actual vs Standard) with histogram, and develop action plans to resolve gapsReconcile plant inventory balances including outside warehousesGenerate maintenance spending reports and review with operations and maintenance teamsPerform GR/IR, A/P workflow, works with buyers to resolve pricing discrepanciesSupport the action plans to deliver fixed & variable cost goalsSupport the action plans to deliver the daily production lbs.Support the maintenance department on actions to improve storeroom accuracy and accounting for MRO parts and suppliesTrack and help implement plant cost saving initiative projectsPrepare and process assigned daily/monthly journal entriesAnalyze current and historical trends in key plant performance indicatorsProvide support to track and reduce plant waste (inedible, give-away, product loss)Perform cost analysis to assist the Plant Manager in operational decision makingSupportthe local plant budgeting process ofthefixed and variableexpensesPrepare reports of actual vs. budget results for monthly and quarterly presentationsAssist with ROI for Plant Capital Expenditures and perform post review analysisAssist Controller with Fixed Asset AccountingAssist Controller with special projects including internal or external audit requestsThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
